My Story

AI should give you your life back.

Hi, I’m Kristin, founder of The Present Advantage.

I spent 25 years at Dell teaching leaders how to do more with less. Then I built AI that does something different: it gives you your time back.

Kristin Crawford

From 2016 to 2020, I owned a small business while working a full-time job and raising my daughter as a single mom. There was no slack anywhere in that setup.

I did the books after bedtime. I answered customers and employees from the school pickup line. I wrote the next week’s schedule sitting in a parking lot because it was the only ten minutes I had.

What I remember most is how much of that work didn’t actually need me. The invoicing. The follow-ups. The same four emails I rewrote a hundred times.

And it wasn’t just the business. There were permission slips, appointment reminders, last-minute school projects and the running list of things no one else was carrying.

I didn’t have AI then. Had it existed, I don’t think I would have used it to grow faster. I would have used it to close my laptop at seven instead of eleven.

I learned efficiency isn’t enough.

Alongside running my business, I spent 25 years at Dell, much of that time teaching leaders how to get more done with less. But too often, “efficiency” simply meant asking people to stay later, take on more and go home with less of themselves left.

Nobody plans it that way. It happens because efficiency has no conscience. It optimizes whatever you point it toward.

I’ve seen the same pattern my entire life. My dad has run his own business for more than 50 years. He started it because he wanted freedom and didn’t want a boss. But many nights when I was growing up, I barely saw him.

Today, I teach a 6 a.m. class at a fitness studio. Every week, I see business owners and employees carving out one hour for themselves before the day takes the rest. That’s the problem I want to solve.

AI can help you do more, or help you live more.

AI can run the same old efficiency story with a faster engine. Or it can hand you back your Tuesday night. I build the second kind.

The first system I created was for the fitness studio where I teach. Now, every new lead receives a response in under a minute, even in the middle of the night. I also helped the team create better systems so the work didn’t automatically fall back onto the owner.

Then I built a solution for my dad, allowing him to update his website without paying hundreds of dollars a month or spending hours frustrated at his computer.

After that, people started asking me how I was doing it. That’s where The Present Advantage began.

I made a list of the moments I didn’t want business owners to keep missing, and I’ve been working backward from that list ever since.

I help small businesses use practical, human-centered AI to remove repetitive work, simplify their operations and reclaim their time. Not so they can squeeze more work into the day. So they can be done with work.

I want you home by five, present with the people you love.

What you can count on

How I work

I’ll tell you when you don’t need me.

Some problems can be solved with a checklist, a free afternoon and a few honest decisions. When that’s the case, I’ll tell you, even when it costs me the work.

You’ll be able to run it without me.

Everything I build includes the training you need to understand, manage and improve it yourself. If you still depend on me a year from now, I haven’t done my job.

I put AI on the work, not the people.

I don’t build AI systems to replace your team. I build them to remove the repetitive, draining work that keeps talented people stuck in their inboxes and at their desks after hours. Your team deserves their evenings back, too.

If it doesn’t return time, it doesn’t ship.

I measure success in hours returned to you. Every tool, system and recommendation must pass one test: will this help you work less and be present for more of your life?
